Is IceBand recommended for every kind of operation?
Yes. You can use IceBand for all kinds of operations where cold/compression therapy is considered beneficial. It is ideal for arthroscopic day-surgery, ACL;s, Meniscus and TKA;s.
Can IceBand be handled by the patient or only by the specialists in the clinic?
IceBand is designed to be user-friendly for both clinic staff and patients. It is safe and easy to apply.
When, after surgery, should IceBand be applied?
As soon as the surgery is finished, and the wound is closed.
For how long should IceBand be kept on?
Allow the IceBand to work for 45-60 minutes for maximum effect. We recommend using IceBand for repeated intervals of approximately 45-60 minutes each time. After using IceBand, take it off for at least one hour. This enables the operated area to “rest”. Repeat the process several times.
Is there any risk that using IceBand may lead to frostbites on your skin?
Thanks to the isolating non-woven fabric, the skin temperature will never go below 50º F (10º C), which might be a critical level for some (very few) patients. Before you start using IceBand, please make sure to read the User’s Manual, which you will find in your personal IceBand pack.
What other risks are involved when using IceBand?
When the User’s Manual is followed correctly, there are no risks.
How should I store the IceBand?
In a normal freezer, between -4ºF and 14ºF (-20ºC and -10ºC).
Why are there 4 pcs of cooling elements included in the IceBand pack?
There are two cooling elements in the bandage, and two replacements to be stored in your freezer. This way, you can alternate to obtain efficient cooling.
How long time do I need to keep the IceBand in the freezer before first use?
If you have a good freezer, three hours will be enough when the packs are separated.
Why does IceBand contain water as cooling medium?
Water is safe and ice is the most efficient cooling medium. Water is also environmentally friendly.
Cooling and compression – when using IceBand?
In the first two hours after the operation, compression is important in order to reduce the swelling. Compression is created by tightening the Velcro bands. Cooling is essential during the first 72 hours after the operation, in order to reduce pain and the inflammatory response. Cooling is important during the full rehabilitation period.
Can IceBand also be used for acute injuries?
Yes, cooling and compression will help to minimize the symptoms of the injury. The first two hours should be treated with maximum compression & cooling, with milder compression & cooling for the following days.
Why should we use IceBand instead of other cooling products?
- Function with cooling and compression is excellent
- Simpler handling in the clinic is achieved with IceBand. There is no need for cleaning, handling etc after use since IceBand is disposable)
- The patient can easily use IceBand while at home without assistance.
- More than 800.000 patients have been treated with IceBand, without any side effects.
Is IceBand a substitute to painkillers?
IceBand will reduce a lot of the pain, but additional painkillers may be necessary depending on the complexity of the operation and the patient’s tolerance to pain.
Why is IceBand a disposable product?
IceBand should be used both directly after the operation and by the patient for the duration of the rehabilitation period. After the rehabilitation period, the patient should dispose of the product. There is no need for the clinic to recover the IceBand for costly cleaning and handling.
